I have read many different posts and threads on this subject. My question more points to the set up. I am looking at purchasing a Laview System with a LV-N9808C8E w/2tb HDD for $299 along with 4 3MP 2048x 1536 | DWDR/DNR/100ft IR/ MicroSD | LV-PD503028 for $145.00 and a 3MP 2048x 1536 | DWDR/D/100ftIR/ MicroSD | LV-PD503028 for $145.00. Laview has deal where you get an extra 20% off your system. Home depot also has a pretty good deal http://www.homedepot.com/p/LaView-8...ith-Free-Remote-LV-KND988P86D242-T2/206484636 Or would a system from Hikvision be better? Or something else?

This picture shows the locations where I have cat 6 run to. The height from ground to the eves would be 15ft+, except the porch which would be around 12ft.

After looking at the picture what step up would you suggest? I was thinking the bullet would go on the porch and the domes everywhere else? In some posts I have read that a 2mp is better than a 3mp? Would like to spend no more than $600-800. Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't be much help with camera choices....much more experienced folks here will chime in, however regarding the placement of your porch camera--you may get better video of people coming to your front door if you're able to shift your porch mount to the left side of the porch rather than the right. That way you will capture faces rather than tops of heads right before they enter. You could mount it on the garage eave or just above that and still get good captures. A baseball bat will take out any camera, but a small dome would be a little more secure in that location over a bullet and would also be less attractive to spiders if you have that problem in your part of the world.

I am with LaView and wanted to let you know on the entryway you may want to use the dome as suggested and it would be good if you can mount it lower so a camera can catch the faces as well as to move the camera to the other side. All the cameras you are looking at are tested with our systems to be compatible with the records and any upgrades in the future. We add a layer of technical quality control to the systems we sell by checking all items for proper function together. The recorders are matched to the cameras we sell. Also we run true PoE on IP systems and not a proprietary 19V system. With our systems they are also full 1080p in 30 frames per second which is realtime recording. And we have the most current firmware installed so you have an easy installation and compatibility and yes Home Depot has a great price on the Black Friday sales going on now.
