iVMS-4500 to iVMS-4200(v2.5.1.7) Internet setup

I looked all over for how to remote view/playback from my smart phone. I found many people saying I needed the old software iVMS-4200 PCNVR. Some said you could only remote view from iVMS-4500.

Below is how I got iVMS-4500 to access my iVMS-4200(v2.5.1.7) system from an Android phone on the Internet. It allows remote playback and Live view.

This info assumes you already have iVMS-4200 setup and running. If you don't, I followed this guide that got me going.

My setup:
iVMS-4200 Storage Server running on a Windows 8.1 PC with IP address 192.168.0.2
DS-2CD2042WD-I Camera with IP address 192.168.0.221 PORT 8000

1. Forward ports in your router to the Storage Server.

Name\App CAM-NVR
Protocol Both
Port From 8000
IP Address 192.168.0.2
Port To 8000

2. Forward port in your router to the IP Camera

Name\App CAM-221
Protocol Both
Port From 8001
IP Address 192.168.0.221
Port To 8000

3. Setup two devices in iVMS-4500 on you phone

Pick Devices
Pick the + to add
Pick Manual Adding
Alias NVR
Register Mode IP/Domain
Address <IP Address of your Internet> X.X.X.X
Port 8000
Username <username>
Password <password>
Camera No. <leave default>
Press save icon, upper right

Pick Devices
Pick the + to add
Pick Manual Adding
Alias CAM-<Description>
Register Mode IP/Domain
Address <IP Address of your Internet> X.X.X.X
Port 8001
Username <username>
Password <password>
Camera No. <leave default>
Press save icon, upper right

4. Pick Live View, Pick device icon in upper right, put check mark next to Cam
5. Pick Remote Playback, Pick device icon in upper right, put check mark next to NVR

The Remote Playback doesn't refresh with any recordings after you login. The only way so far to refresh is to exit the app and start it again.

Make sure your Storage Server and IP Camera has a strong password.
