I bought and installed the below kit about 3 years ago.

Hikvision 4 channel NVR with POE (DS-7604NI-E1-4P)
1 x Hikvision DS-2CD2532F-I 3MP 2.8mm Mini Dome Cam.

It has worked well since and done everything I've needed to do. I've not had any need to do any updates to it.

I'm thinking of adding another cam. Is it the case that I buy a new cam, assign it the ip addy on the NVR for cam 2 and then install it? Will the new cams do this easy enough? I'd be looking to get a similar cam to the one I have now.

It should not be a problem adding a Hikvision camera to the NVR. Just keep the megapixels (MP) for the camera at or under 5 MP, according to the NVR specs.

Ok thanks.

I guess I was just making sure that as the 2CD2532F is an older model like my NVR that the new range of Hi watch and Hi look will work as plug and play with my existing set up.
