Hi, I would like to know if the Dahua IPC-HFW71242H-Z camera is able to recognize the characters of the number plates of cars both in motion and at night. Thank you

Your eyes should recognise the letters and numbers, if the camera clearly captures the number plates. Sorry for my humour!

Since it is an ANPR camera, then yes. But it does have to be set up to do so (not on default/auto settings). That has a max focal length of 12mm, so anything beyond 35ish feet will be a struggle.

A better model would be the 7442H-Z4 (more zoom). I have it myself and it's capturing places from a 30m night and day in motion. It's a really impressive camera!

What do you think of the HFW-5242HN-Z6E as another option for LPR. It is a 8 to 48 mm zoom while the HFW-7442H-Z4 is an 8 to 32 mm zoom. i.e. if more lens is needed?

salve, vorrei sapere la configurazione che usate per leggere le targhe la sera.
L'immagine è abbagliata dalle luci.
Funziona bene durante il giorno.
La fotocamera è IPC-HFW71242H-ZX
