Appreciate any help with this, I am having issues where the license plate is not reflecting or allowing me to see the letters on the license plate. I have been playing around with the focus and I feel that I have the plate in focus but I just cant get the license plate to reflect. Below are samples and my settings, any thoughts on what I could change?

I think that comment was more for future questions if you have further questions as it relates specifically to LPR. Since you deleted the other one, now all the comments provided in that thread are now gone.

Yeah but the replies are gone,

Same issue as yesterday. No change in reply. You need to go into Day/Night setting and make it be B&W at night. You can't run color at night you dont have enough light to do so.
You need to use a "Schedule Profile" to do this and force the camera to go into Night/B&W mode 45 minutes BEFORE sunset to allow it enough light to focus

My Night settings. YMMV

Thanks and sorry for the confusion. I made these changes and here's where I got last night for plate recordings. Notice how everything looks good but the letters in the plate just wont pop. I dont know what changed, I had plates working great and did a recent setup with Mike in support for Blue Iris and now I cant get plates to recognize anymore.

Looks like no IR. One plate says “day plate”?

I think you are messed up on your day/night profile

Ok yeah I might need to have Mike help me again, that is from two different cameras. I always used rekor scout for my plate recordings but was hoping to have Blue Iris handle everything.

Ahh, I’m not a BI guy sorry.

Also if those settings you posted are real, way too much DNR and try turning off backlight/HLC

I doubt Mike in doing BI support changed your actual camera settings?

You will find Rekor is way more accurate. They have a lot more resources to improve accuracy.

Yes sir, he changed my settings on the cameras (albeit I asked him to).

So you were capturing plates great and had someone change the settings?

I am simply pointing out that even when you get this straightened out you will find Rekor is more accurate. Depending on your use case you may be OK with less accuracy or you may want to stay with rekor. Just trying to manage your expectations...

Correct, I didnt realize he was going to change my core settings but whats weird is that I took screenshots of all my old settings and I reverted everything back to that and I still am having the last issue of the plate letters just not popping like they were.

Day time plate recordings are perfect in BI and its working great at night just cant get my camera settings right now.

I like BI better than Rekor because I only got screenshots in Rekor I wanted the actual video clip incase I needed to examine further and thats working perfectly recording video clips locally.

Again, heres all my latest settings incase you guys see something else I should change?

Heres the two shots from the cameras last night, ignore the day/night plate thats a label in BI I am using the day/night switcher and can confirm its working when testing.

You need to drop NR way down.

Contrast should be at least 8 points higher than brightness.

In that first capture It looks to me like there is zero IR hitting the plate. The only reason we're seeing it is due to the courtesy lights
In the second one I'm less sure but seems to be the same problem.

UNLESS they're both those new Tennessee plates or paper...

Here's a plate with no courtesy lights but good IR
HOA Ent VPN_EntTag_main_20231217220615_@7.jpg

Another hypothesis could be that you're washing out the plate, which would involve too much Gain/Gamma/brightness/ExpComp/Iris one or more of those

And yeah as I mentioned yesterday thats way too much DNR

With those two examples, it also looks like you are seeing the 3M printed plates that absolutely suck with LPR. Maybe your plates that popped were the old stamped plates.
