IPC-Color4K-T180 troubleshooting

There you go again with the common sense...geesh
I’m sure rj45s were never intended for exterior use. All those delicate little contacts in close-packed channels perfect for concentrating moisture and dirt.

Sorry to jump in here but, about the RJ45 burnout. I have had 3 poe plus cameras (that have been up a couple years) have chernobyl incidents only on the camera ends. So, my question is, dielectric grease or not? I've read about it causing issues. All 3 connections were the weather-sealed ones and of course installed outside. All cameras are Dahua but don't think that matters. I believe it is moisture intrusion but figured I'd see what you think.
I can say that I got corrosion when I didn’t use it. So far, none when I did.

Re: dielectric.
I gobbed it on with the first cable I used for the Color 4k. Seemed ok.
2nd cable run for same camera I didn’t add anymore and left a light residual coating on the connection.
Had problems with the 1st cable after 1 winter. Giving me fits ….
I somehow stripped 1” off the jacket of the cat5 during the cable pulling and exposed a bit of copper about midway in the run. That’s what screwed up my connection. Coincidentally right over a gopher hole. Not sure who to blame.
