Already tried that mate, works spot on. Not bad for a cheap nvr if I'm honest :)

Perfect..that is a decent price for 4ch with built in poe
In case you plan on installing more of these hikvision makes a 4ch nvr as well..http://www.ebay.com/itm/P2P-4CH-720P-1080P-NVR-Video-Recorder-For-HikVision-Dericam-IP-Camera-Onvif-/351202467511?pt=US_Surveillance_Digital_Video_Recorders_Cards&hash=item51c54c5eb7
It doesnt have built in poe, however that can actually be a benefit..just you a poe switch..and you dont have to home run all cables to the nvr..just a single cable from the switch to NVR or switch to any network connection...http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418542713&sr=8-1&keywords=poe+switch&pebp=1418542507143
I have not used the hikvision so i cannot comment on its operation..

I will keep that in mind. Would make it alot more easy on the install if I'm honest. I can link all te cans to the switch in the loft and then like you say just 1 wire to the nvr. Would make it more simple and alot neater. I think I will go for the hikvision next time just for the fact it is a hikvision and should give me less grief than the cheaper models of nvr
