So I received my 2 Dahua Camera's today, they will be going on the roof in both my front porch and back porch. However im really not sure the best way to do this. The roof is about...10-12 feet high (so perfect for IDing faces). I've attached a couple of pictures of both the attic above (I have good attic access thankfully). I've read through the Cliff notes but was curious if anyone has done this specifically.
I also have 2 PFA130-E junction boxes with the 2 IPC-HDW2231R-ZS's I purchased (Thanks to EMPIRETECANDY!).
I believe they refer to this roofing material as "Beadboard"....but I don't think the joists are wide enough to drill through the beadboard and mount them. I have access to the soffits as well but they obviously don't have any sort of wood to mount to.
(The first picture sucks but it's crooked looking but the white portion with the black thing (Which is a light) is what i'd be mounting it to.
I suppose I could nail an actual round junction box similar to how the porch light is set up maybe? But im not sure if the PFA130-E junction box can mount to the side of a stud?
Also I see a lot of different variety of opinions on using sealants/etc.., fortunately this will be at least under the roof...but what's a cheap "go-to" sealant I could use?
edit: Side question, I already put my RJ45 connectors on my patch cables I made....im guessing the waterproof connector that comes with the cameras requires the RJ45 connector not to be on yet I assume (if so I guess I need to do some more stripping and crimping :/ )
Hopefully someone can help answer this! Thanks!
