after Bricking a smaller camera with an update I am hesitant to update my speed dome. I currently have firmware version 5.5.2 and the newest one is 5.5.71 am I missing something by not upgrading?

Unless their is a particular issue which the new firmware resoles, or unless the firmware adds a new feature which you need...why not leave well enough alone?
well the autotracking is sketchy at best often it will stop tracking when hitting a patrol point, or will suddenly decide to go to a set point in the middle of tracking so I was hoping to improve that. Also for better security. I wonder where I can find to the features of each firmware up?

IMO, effective and reliable auto-tracking is most likely many software generations away...or on TV!
