How to reset Hikvision DS-7732NI-K4 i forgot my admin password and pattern lock

Assuming there are no NVR PoE ports on this model - where there is a neat trick to extract the NVR password - probably the easiest method to reset the password by yourself, if you can't ask Hikvision support for a reset code, is :
Find what version of firmware is currently in use by using SADP.
Download the same version of firmware from here :

Install a tftp server on your PC, such as this one :

tftpd32.jounin.net
Unzip the digicap.dav firmware into the same folder as the tftp server is installed in.
With an RS-232 null modem cable, using either a PC with an RS-232 interface, or a USB to RS-232 convertor (not serial TTL), connect to the device serial console using the DB9 connector on the back panel.
Power on the NVR and interrupt the bootloader with Control-U
Follow the 'Update firmware' prompts to install the firmware that you downloaded.
Power cycle the NVR and use SADP to find and 'Activate' the NVR with your choice of strong password.
