hi all

anybody know where exactly ( maybe even pic ) to show where the mic inlet is on the following 2 cams
i want to physically reduce wind rumble as some of the electronic filters cut out spoken voice

IPC-HFW5849T1P-ASE-4K cam 3.6mm lens

IPC-B541R-Z4E-S3

thanks

I have had some success using foam wrapped around some external microphones and it may work by wrapping around the housing where the audio hole is.

My guess is you have small hole on right side of lens. But on the 541R? Not sure, looking at the websites for the camera while says has built in Mic I don't see hole in front like you can see on my Pic. This is from my 4mp so could be different but Dahua likes to make many models same build design, keeping cost down that way.

.Is your Noise reduction enabled in the camera? I mean yeah I understand that it reduces the distance of the Mic pickup but can help with wind as well? I mean sure some of my camera with it disabled I can hear things 200+ feet away but not everyone wants to hear things that far form cameras. Most times it is close voices that are important?

Revo, I have switched on noise reduction but didn't reduce it enough... Await delivery of furniture in week. Prob could do with a hipass rumble filter , rattles the speaker like 40hz - 100hz perhaps

It doesn't affect clarity. If you'd done this you'd probably understand that. I have just cheap fur pieces on mine from Amazon (are supposed to be mini dead cats but that's questionable). There's very little difference in general pick up and it's cetainly not reduced in clarity. Part of the biggest enemy with Dahua's mics is they are usually too sensitive. OP should try turning down the gain as well. You'd be surprised how turning down the gain a little can improve the sound quality although it will never come close to an external mic.

Well I do have some of mine Enabled on cameras that the wind hits the camera from left to right and if it wasn't enabled it would be nothing but wind.. Right now looking at a day with a good amount of wind and while there are some Gust of wind that makes it well known that it is windy out. Able to see just how much by the Flag Across the street and the weeds on the hill side.. With it enabled I can still hear the car across the street start, people talking in the street as they go by the cars that are overly loud.. So yeah I know what it can do and what it does do for my cameras. Like my Dahua N45EFN2 and my Amcrest Turret cameras that have direct wind contact.

It was an idea to try and help keep down some wind. I can't say how it would act with all types of installed cameras as different installed areas and different positions can make it not effective for keeping it down. But hearing the birds chirping while it is windy with it Enabled to not being able to hear anything with it is disabled besides wind. It is something that works for me. With everything it is worth trying to see if it would have helped. Better to offer something that may have helped and failed to do so, Then not give any advise on the matter. Might not help the OP but could be something that might work for others that read the thread.. For me down side is that I have to turn up the sound when I want to play back with audio. For me I have mine enabled and 100% volume for Mic and Speaker output.. Adjustment of slider with Enabled filter for Mic might be the best option and little tweaking can go a long way.

does the B541R-Z4E-S3 have audio?
my Z4e's are a generation older and have no audio. But i port the audio ( in BI settings) from a nearby cam.

On the IPC-B541R-Z4E-S3 one of its codecs does a very good job of blocking passing cars, however it seems to chop out bits of vocals so several words in a sentence are severely reduced or missed out !

With the sprayer across road, it is sort of similar soundstage to the voice however direct wind is a whole other order of volume, more like a fighter jet going past , drowning EVERY other sound

im looking for a windy rainy day to see how bad it is.

That Tuesday as I recall, driving the bus, was one of the windiest day out in open areas this Spring. But the canopy of trees in this old neighborhood, cuts that " out in the open" gusty stuff. So may not have an example of your type of high winds. Except if i can find a downburst gust from may on the calendar.

This about as windy as it ever gets on this cam. I think we had Tornado watches out at some point during this rain event.
