How many devices does Hikvision make each month?

I just got 2 cameras with these manufactured dates and serials:

- 02 November 2015 serial 550762***
- 04 March 2016 serial 577302***

If the devices they make have consecutive serial numbers (i.e. they use all of them) which I thought was the case, then that means they made around 27 million devices in 4 months.

Is that possible/likely?

I have toured the Hikvision headquarters in Hangzhou last year after they took occupancy of their two new high rise buildings. The scale of the company is absolutely remarkable. Well over ten thousand employees all incredibly well organized and focused. That said, 27 million devices in 4 months or close to 7 million per month would be virtually impossible. The numbers I have heard are north of 300,000 cameras per month and if you add in recorders then perhaps a few more.

nobody ever uses all the numbers, they break them out into blocks so they can keep models and production runs indicated via serial.. kinda like VIN numbers w/cars, there is info encoded into the serial.. everything made this month might take up a million numbers depending on where the month key lies.
