How do you all watch Dahua cams on your tv's

Trying to come up with the best solution for being able to watch all Dahua cams connected to my NVR on select TV's in the house. I have spare coax & cat5e at every TV location or wifi if necessary.

Looking at the various Cat5 to HDMI convertor solution (transmitter w/ receiver), Android MK808B running gDMSS Lite.

What are others doing to monitor Dahua cams on your tv's?

My ShieldTV is having no issues Decoding a bunch of streams w/TinyCamPro, even get limited PiP functionality

just tried the 10 so far but its keeping up with whatever FPS I have set on the cameras.. it should work with h265 main streams on a 4k TV but I dont have that large of a display and TinyCamPro errors on h265 video out of my NVR

TinyCamPro is the way to go for watching on TV. I thought about the Intel Compute Stick as well as a laptop (with Android's Remix OS Installed). I'll be trying an Amazon Fire TV Streaming Stick as well (I can install TinyCamPro from there as well). The only thing lacking is the ability to configure individual cameras. Its really better off for watching purposes, otherwise I have to login to each Camera remotely. Oh, and don't forget to set each camera a Static IP.

I also discovered a piece of software called CMS 2.0 (worth a try). It installs onto a PC, and leave the HDMI connected to the TV. Works wonders as well. You can record to your local HDD as well without having to rely on the NVR. There's also iSpy, but I haven't been able to yield the same picture quality out of this software compared to others.

Otherwise, plenty of options out there. Choose one, and you should be good. :)

Sorry to sound like an idiot here, and apologize if it appears like i am sticking my nose into this post...

1. @tomas21 By TV, i assume that you are actually referring to a monitor mounted on the wall with an HDMI etc, input vs a tuner?
2. @nayr Is ShieldTV a high end Android streaming device (big stick) with HDMI etc out, that lets you install android apps on it like your phone? and you installed TinyCamPro app on it, and configured it to log in to 10 cameras simultaneously (via GigE?) display them out the HDMI port?
3. Since the question was for TV, I assume that you could use the remote and change the app from camera time to Netflix and start watching some reruns of Firefox, etc, like boss mode when the wife walks in the room (porn mode for nerds)?

Yes, TV and or any type of monitor mounted to a wall with HDMI or Coax inputs.
 
The ShieldTV is my source for everything; I cut cable out.. I have a HD HomeRun on the network and AndroidTV Live Channels lets me view/pause/record Live TV to the internal HDD; I have a plex server that streams TV shows and movies to the device, then it has Netflix/Pandora/Amazon/WatchESPN/PBS/iHeartRadio/YouTube/WeatherNetwork apps for other media sources.

Ive tried alot of tv boxes, FireSticks, Roku, Nexus Player, Mi Box and this kicks everything else's ass and is really the only one that supports my surround sound system well.. Its not cheap, but its worth it IMHO for the performance and reliability... WAF score is very high.

What I like most about tinyCamPro on AndroidTV box, is listening to music while the security cameras are on screen..

I also like that I can write apps for Android and tie it into my automation system.. like this:

I am on this forum for a few days and I am always impressed by the help you bring to the other members of the cctv community.
Being a beginner in the field I would definitely need your help and expert advice.
This setup is very interesting (ShieldTV + tinyCamPro)
With this setup the cameras must be connected directly to the router or can they be connected to an NVR?
I have an NVR and some cameras but old models, I plan to replace everything (1 x NVR3204-P, 1 x IPC-HFW3200CP, 1 x IPC-HFW2100P and 2 x IPC-HFW3200S).
What model of NVR and cameras you advise me ??

@nayr , your shit kicks ass. i am stumbling cutting the cord due to wife/daughter resistance . I used to have a couple of the older SiliconDust HD Homerun products (gen 1,2,3 windows media center), but have recently tossed them in the recyclers. it is good to see that the company has evolved. i need to take a look at them again. I was looking at the Channel Master DVR+ a bit ago as my OTA to HDMI, but stream to DVR seems better and doable with the HDHomeRun offering. I have one of the newer Roku Sticks,. which works pretty well, but not expandable OS like the NVidia ShieldTV.
 
I have the next gen Apple TV. Anyone know of any apps that Apple TV offers and can access a Dahua NVR ?

And Yes I know I can use the iDMSS app and stream or mirror my iphone to the Apple TV.

@nayr Looks like you have 160 FPS w/ H264 decoder total on Shield TV which is amazing! Can you tell me what the frame resolution on these cameras?

those are all PAL D1 Sub-streams (704×576) in low bandwidth mode, most all my cameras are recording in h265 and I cant get it to work in high profile mode without changing em all back to h264.. but its not hooked up to a 4k display so its not like it'd make any appreciable difference from the sofa.
 
A few additional questions now that you have gotten me thinking about this again (thanks).
  • In your setup, where is the HD storage for the DVR? I don't think it is in the HDHR or the ShieldTV. Is there a separate server (windows/Linux/other)?
  • What do you use as the scheduling guide service for OTA? Does this guide service search OTA as well as streaming content (Netflix, Amazon, etc)? I think Roku works this way, but i have to admit that i have not used it that much to know.
  • What is Plex used for? Is this the OTA scheduling service, or just some media cataloging app? Where does it run?
  • Did you consider the Tablo when choosing the HDHR?

Do you point the tinyCam Monitor to the NVR vs the cameras so that you can use the sub-streams?
 
HD Storage for DVR is on the ShieldTV, records it locally.. I dont record much live TV but its nice to have when I do so I can skip commercials/pause.. Scheduling is built into the LiveTV app for Android.. other apps can integrate with LiveTV but not all of em do, Weather App does, ESPN App dont.

Plex is my personal media server holding all my movie rips and tv shows sourced via newsgroups

I'm just using the HD HomeRun Connect w/2 Tuners, even get DD5.1 output.. I suppose if I went with the h265 model it'd save a ton of disk space if you used the DVR function alot.. but since everything is wired to the network it handles the OTA signal fine w/out transcoding the mpeg2 stream.

tinycam is loading all the streams off the NVR, but it could be doing it to each camera.. wouldn't make a difference.

@nayr any particular year or models to consider or avoid for the Shield TV solution? Checking out some used ones to POC.
