Hikvision Scene Settings

Hi all...I just wondered if anyone knew anything about this. These are in the ‘configuration’ and then ‘image’ pages of the setup (of all Hik PTZs and maybe others?) There are choices like Outdoor, Street, Nightfall, Night, Low Illumination etc.

It appears that changing these settings, changes all kinds of parameters within the ‘image’ page...which is fine and useful. However, it seems more than this, as in some cases, some settings like ‘Low Illumination’ actually adds/removes certain sub pages of options (only on certain cameras I think)

On one of my cameras 2DE7225IW, choosing ‘Low Illumination’, logically seems to give the best results in low light, non IR, but also seems to use the most processing power, as if you have it set to 60fps, it automatically drops to 30fps and refuses to do 60 any more (even though it still displays 60 on the setting page)

So I just wondered if anyone had any more insight with this, and whether these settings are intended for very specific situations? Ie...does the ‘Night’ setting imply that this is best for IR use as logic would assume, and what does ‘Street’ imply I wonder, other than use it for a camera in a street...but does it assume day or night I wonder?

I think it assumes the type of lighting present ,
ie streetlights (high pressure sodium or mercury vapour for instance)

Thanks for your reply, and yes, this is what I kind of assumed too. Funny how these settings appear on all the PTZs I have tried and yet there is no documentation on what they are actually intended for, and why certain parameters are added and disappear for different scene presets.

Like I wonder what the difference is between, nightfall, night and Low Illumination.

Anyway, I will try and find out and report back with anything useful.

This function varies depending on different speed dome models.

• Auto: In Auto mode, the camera retains colour balance automatically according to the current colour temperature.
• Manual White Balance: In MWB mode, you can adjust the colour temperature manually to meet your own demand.
• Outdoor: You can select this mode when the speed dome is installed in outdoor environment.
• Indoor: You can select this mode when the speed dome is installed in indoor environment.
• Fluorescent Lamp: You can select this mode when there are fluorescent lamps installed near the speed dome.
• Sodium Lamp: You can select this mode when there are sodium lamps installed near the speed dome.
• Auto-Tracking White Balance: In ATW mode, white balance is continuously being adjusted in real-time according to the colour temperature of the scene illumination.
