Hello,

This is my first post here, so a big hello.

I have recently purchased a Hikvision DS2CD2135F - IS POE camera.

I have attempted to wire the mic as this is something I require. I read some guides and I'm unable to get working, so I need some assistance.

Ive used a mic that is unpowered, when I cut the cable of the MIC I was left with 4 very tiny wires. I connected two of the colours together and two of the white cables together then wired them into the Mic G and IN on the camera plug. I am still unable to pickup audio, do i required a 12v power or will the mic still function without?

Id be grateful for some help.

Best regards,

Have you changed the stream from Video to Video and Audio?

Hi,

I have indeed. Can you recommend a mic that will work with the camera.

I see some mics online but they require 12v power. I have a lighting circuit near the camera, I could take feed from this and wire to a transformer if the method is best.

Thanks for the reply.

I've found that most passive PC mic's work (just cut off the 3.5mm jack), even the mic off and Xbox headset works pretty well too.

That should do the job.

I'm using an electret microphone ( on a 2132 camera ) like this one ( but I think any electret should do fine )

The microphone minus terminal is the one connected to the metal housing
