I was going to go with the Hikvision NVR (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...A19093RR57KB15) if I end up getting Hikvision cameras.

If I end up with this Dahua instead (
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Dahua-2MP-H265-WDR-IR-Eyeball-2-7mm-12mm-motorized-lens-Starlight-Network-Camera-IPC-HDW5231R/32746293334.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.WcubsQ), should I select a different NVR? If so, is there a general consensus on recommendations for one at $600 or so?

Thanks,

John

If you go for Dahua cameras, I would say go for a Dahua NVR, sure.

The 7716NI-SP is an old discontinued model. Not saying it is a bad unit, but its support will be dropped way earlier than with any of the current units, like the 7616NI-E2/16P or 7716NI-I4/16P.

Thanks, Securame. Is there a particular Dahua NVR that you recommend?

I am also learning as well.. I think it depends on what kind of camera, MP, total number of camera and bandwidth. 7716 seems to max at 160MB/s incoming bandwidth. Dahua has some model that is 320MB/s

Tangent - yep, but the question is which Dahua NVR (if I go with the Dahua cameras) or which Hikvision NVR if I go with those cameras.

I think which (either Dahua or Hikvision) NVR depends on how many cameras, type of cameras and if you will need build in POE switch.

If using Hikvision camera, I would use the Hikvision NVR such as the 7716NI-I4/16P. but your Hikvison camera is 4MP, and the 7716NI-I4/16P incoming bandwidth is only 160Mbps. So you are probably some how limited by the bandwidth.

I like the Dahua NVR as some of the model they have with built in POE switch support incoming bandwidth of 320Mbps. this is the NVR I am planing to order.
