Good Afternoon/Evening All -
I am working on limiting "bird and bug" false alarms with my Hikvision NVR and it's 2 PTZ cams and 4 Turrent Cams.

Question: Do Basic Events need to be configured first, and "Motion Detection" enabled in Basic Events, in order for Smart Events to work? I've tried setting up Smart Events and configuring Line Crossing, Face Dectection, and Intrusion Detection, but some cameras do not seem to record events unless Motion is enabled under Basic Events.

I didn't see any relationship between Basic and Smart Events noted in the NVR's User Manual, but it's not very detailed. Any preferred settings you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance -

Rob

For Posterity, after adjusting sensitivity on the Smart Events, I am able to get alarms now with Basic Events (Motion) disabled.

This has helped greatly in reducing false alarms, but the jury is still out on how many incidents it may miss. I believe it will take some tuning.

My experience so far with Hikvision smart events is to leave a buffer area around the designated event region. so that the camera/nvr can detect/analyze the object before it goes into the region box, crosses the line, etc. and then configure adequate pre/post-event recording accordingly. also don't be afraid to use 2-3-4 small regions instead of one big region.
