Hello All;

I have a month old DS-7604NI-E1/4P NVR that had a new, self-installed, WD Purple 1TB WD10PURX HD connected to a DS-2CD2042WD-I 4MP and a DS-2CD2032-I 3MP attached. Both cams are POE powered. All this gear was sourced from Amazon from "apparently" reputable vendors and were all white-boxed and have English menus with current firmware installed. The NVR is on 3.4.2 build 160205 - I haven't updated any of the gear myself. Within the last two weeks, and now much more regularly, when checking motion detection events from either camera in "Event Search" in IVMS-4200, the clip wont play and an error "Window01 : getting stream timeout" displays. Checking the playback in "Remote Playback" for the event period shows that nothing was recorded for that period at all, sometimes for as long as forty-five minutes. The scrub bar shows a steady bar without gaps but when playing the display time jumps forward. A lot is currently not getting recorded. The "Main View" live display continues 24/7 so there appears to be no connection problem to the cams.

I was first thinking that the hard drive might have problems because there were a lot of SMART events in the log that I can't decipher, but a " SMART Settings self-test" showed passed and functional. A "Bad Sector Detection" test showed all blocks green and normal. I formatted the drive a few times and there weren't any SMART events in the log at first but then they were almost the only entries in the log. Example:

Hard disk = 1 Firmware = 01.01A01 Model = WDC WD10PURX-64E5EY0 Serial = WD-WCC4J1XSXKNT ID Attribute name Flags Threshold Value Worst Raw Value Status 1 Raw Read Error Rate 2f 51 200 200 0 OK 3 Spin Up Time 27 21 135 135 4241 OK 4 Start/Stop Count 32 0 100 100 26 OK 5 Reallocated Sector Count 33 140 200 200 0 OK 7 Seek Error Rate 2e 0 200 200 0 OK 9 Power-on Hours Count 32 0 99 99 914 OK a Spin Up Retry Count 32 0 100 253 0 OK b Calibration Retry Count 32 0 100 253 0 OK c Power Cycle Count 32 0 100 100 20 OK c0 Power Off Retract Count 32 0 200 200 18 OK c1 Load/Unload Cycle Count 32 0 200 200 7 OK c2 Power temperature 22 0 109 101 34 OK c4 Reallocation Event Count 32 0 200 200 0 OK c5 Current Pending Sector Count 32 0 200 200 0 OK c6 Off-line Scan Uncorrect. Sector Count 30 0 100 253 0 OK c7 Ultra ATA CRC Error Rate 32 0 200 200 0 OK c8 Write Error Count 8 0 100 253 0 OK

So yesterday I installed a new 3TB WD Purple drive and I'm getting the same problem! It really seems like the motion events take out the recording. Out of eight motion events on both camera streams in the last eighteen hours only one was could be viewed, the others threw the "Window01 : getting stream timeout" error. When viewing with "Remote Playback" the recording runs right up to when the motion events occur then skip forward, well past the event time. On one I watched myself walk into the frame, then poof, skip forward seven minutes. This is baffling, I welcome any opinions you might have that I could try.

Try first to remove the motion sensing. Test. Then add line crossing detection. Test. Then only motion detection. Test. Without continuous recording. See how or if it works

SOLVED!

Thanks very much for your help! Your mention of line crossing detection reminded me that I had previously tried using it and ran into problems with it creating video issues on playback so I disabled it. I ended up restoring the NVR to its defaults and that solved the problem. I now just have to figure out how to turn off the "Motion Detection Analysis" that's on all the time even though it's not turned on at all, but that's a minor problem. Thanks Again badmannen!

turn off VCA under video settings, in some tab there´s a check box for that.

and in the motion settings there is also the setting for sending that data. can not think of anything else atm.

good it worked out for you, what issues did you have with the line-crossing btw? . I use all of them and it works fine. but it is all a mystery with hikvisions software anyway =D

This is maddening - the problem returned. I can't figure out how to turn off continuous recording and turn on only motion alarm recording. To badmanne - The line crossing worked and sent an alarm but the usually invisible red OSD lines were visible on playback and were huge and scrambled all around the full screen. Is it possible to COMPLETELY restore the NVR to its out-of-the-box condition and start from scratch and should I? Getting desperate! Thanks!
