I bought one of these a few weeks ago on Ebay and for the price I'm really satisfied with it.

Hikvision DS-2DE4A320IW-DE 3MP Network IR PTZ Camera, 20× Optical, 16× Digital | eBay

I see how popular the Dahua PTZ with auto-tracking is here, but I wanted a cheap Hikvision PTZ since I use a Hikvision NVR (for now, BI seems to be inevitable). Thanks to you guys, I understand that the 3MP resolution 1/2.8" sensor size combination is not ideal, but I use it in an area with a floodlight, so it still works well at night.

The camera came sealed with firmware V5.5.71 build 180725 loaded. The serial number label on the box had a little label I peeled back to reveal the original firmware was V5.4.8 build 170210. In any case, I loaded the latest (and probably last) R7 series firmware V5.6.18 build 210622 with no problems. That didn't add or remove any features or change anything as far as I could tell... I did need to upgrade the firmware for medical reasons (OCD) and more importantly shits and giggles. I'm assuming it's a US region camera as it has the UL listed logo.

Of course, I'm getting mixed results with the auto tracking, but I'll keep experimenting.

The eBay listing shows 30 sold and 43 watching and the seller has good feedback. In short, the camera seems like a good deal for someone who wants a Hikvision brand PTZ to experiment with.

Im thinking buy that camera too, but i not have sure in what camera i will choose:

DS-2DE4A220IW-DE
DS-2DE4A320IW-DE
DS-2DE4A215IW-DE
DS-2DE4A225IW-DE
DS-2DE4A425IW-DE
DS-2DE4A204IW-DE
DS-2DE4A404IW-DE

They are so many…

The auto tracking is good?

Maybe? The video you posted in the other thread shows the DS-2DE4A220IW-DE doing a pretty good job.

Need PTZ hikvision with wifi and smart tracking/auto tracking | IP Cam Talk

But I think that camera is mounted in an ideal position... an open unobstructed view... in my case the camera overlooks a backyard with trees and just turning on the auto tracking does not work well... the camera just zooms in on random blowing leaves and if it does track a target, it loses that target pretty soon.

I found instructions elsewhere (attached) from Hikvision that provide an alternative way to set up the tracking and this has been working OK. It involves using other cameras to detect motion and send the PTZ to a preset where it will then begin tracking... but even this doesn't always work perfectly.

If you're not using a Hikvision NVR, this Dahua PTZ with auto tracking seems to be the one the more experienced users here recommend:

Outdoor 2MP Starlight 25X Optical Zoom IR PTZ Smart AI IP Camera SD49225XA-HNR - IP Cam Talk Store

The more experienced guys that are helping you regarding the wi-fi/powerline on the other thread can probably advise you better on all this if you post a couple of pictures of the intended installation location and sketch a diagram showing the available power/networking you intend to use.

I think Nelly's had this camera reviewed on Youtube awhile back. Of course it was probably rebranded for them, but The physical structure looks identical.

You think that the smart tracking/auto tracking algorithms are the same in DS-2DE4A220IW-DE and DS-2DE4A320IW-DE?

I do because they run the same R7 series firmware... someone else may know otherwise.

Similar to what is mentioned in the thread regarding the 2MP vs 4MP Dahua models...

Other than 4MP versus 2MP, the camera is exactly the same. Same size, same sensor, same optics, same GUI, etc.

I just remembered... I'm mistaken about something here... the zoom on the DS-2DE4A320IW-DE is 20x... the zoom on the DS-2DE4A220IW-DE is 25x.

So, if that extra zoom is important to you, that can certainly make a difference! In my case it did not.

Nope, its x20 also.

Can you take a photo of the poe injector that comes with hikvision cam? Its poe+? Since that have 18w consumption, standard poe is not enough.

Poe -15w
Poe+ -30w

The port on my NVR provides PoE+ so I did not need to use the adapter that came with the camera.

I pulled the adapter out of the box and was a bit surprised... the camera did not come with a PoE+ injector... instead it came with a power supply that plugs into the camera:

I was surprised because I know the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE comes with a PoE+ injector (similar but a bigger black "brick").

If the power adapter does not work for you because you want to keep the power source away from the camera, PoE+ injectors are available for about $15.

I will contact my seller because in information its say “ PoE + Power supply or 12 VDC power supply ” so i think that they can change the power supply.

Can you share night video from this camera? I have DS-2DE4A425IW-DE with 4MP 1/2.5 and night image is not great but it's twice the price of this one

Hi @ZeeCam

I don't have any "night" video from my camera because it's covering a backyard that is lit with floodlights, so the camera never switches to night mode. My application for this camera was really just to experiment with the smart tracking feature and for the price I've been happy with it so far.
