I have just built an "analogue" CCTV system using a Hikvision DVR and run out of channels, so planned to use the IP capability of the box to add 2 more cameras.
I ordered a DS-2CD3335-I from China and it arrived yesterday and it was soon connected to my box.. But I was far from impressed with the picture quality as its not in the same league as the Analogue/TVI cameras I am using
But it wasn't THAT bad and I can live with it, but the bigger problem is the aspect ratio.. Its 4:3 and as such it looks squashed.
All of my other cameras are 16:9 and I assumed that this was standard, but its not on the Hikivision.. I did read that it has something to do with the 'crop' when going down from 3MP to 2MP (1080P).. But even at 3MP (2048x1536) its still 4:3
Is this expected? Are Hikvision IP cameras really 4:3? Are there models which are 16:9? Since I only need 2MP, would a DS-2CD3325-I be any better?
If there is a 16:9 option, I think I will sell the 3335 and buy something else, as the 4:3 image is horrible.
I look forwards to any comments you have
