Hi all. Khat17 is the handle. I lurk usually but I'm hoping that I can soak up some added information from the gurus here. Will post that request in the relevant thread. I'm an IT person working in a specialized field. I have a fairly broad basic knowledgebase that allows movement into other avenues as needed. My camera knowledge is very limited though, and my camera needs are really basic - just a dash cam and 4 cameras around home. Always open to testing once I have the hardware/software to do so. I may get dormant from time to time, but a DM/email will get me back active as needed. That's about it for me. I've seen a lot of good stuff here - keep up the good work!

Welcome.
I was a Cat5 cable Jockey for GE wireless Telemetry installs for a year and a half. That almost makes me an IT person in a specialized field...LOL
I finished 1 semester of Cisco networking academy, and 1 Semester of PC diagnostics. But I tinker. So this Blue Iris was a good fit for me.

LoL.

CompTIA A+ / Network+ certified. Various HP certs. Lexmark cert. And other vendor specific certs for the specialized field. Not at liberty to say. The only regret is that I hardly use the skills and other certs that I have. Any server, repair or networking skills are done in my spare time. In the last 15 years I've touched less than 100 PC/laptops for the employer and have only used networking skills to troubleshoot related issues. Never required to run, crimp, test any cable. It gets boring. So I do lots of other stuff to keep current. Set up IP PBX systems. Troubleshoot camera installs - not so much now because it's easy. Previously when people had no idea what DynDNS was and why they suddenly can't connect I was more involved. Port forwarding and static IP requests from ISPs and such. So....I tinker as well.

But yeah. A very specialized field - which is boring after a while - but fun to work with the equipment.
