Hello. First time poster here.
I'm looking for a camera for when I'm underway at night on my boat. Based on recommendations here and some research I think something along the lines of a Dahua IPC-HFW5442H-ZHE would work. Can someone help confirm whether my assumptions are correct given the limitations of my boat Garmin system.
First - My Garmin network won't accept most IP cameras on the market. I have also read that an analog camera will have less lag compared to IP camera. The Dahua above appears to have a BNC output. Will connecting the BNC output to a CVBS to HDMI converter work?
Second - will the camera turn on and transmit a video when it's powered on each time with no other input? My plan is to use the ethernet connection at first with a laptop to set zoom, field of view, etc, and be done with it. After the initial setup, the camera would be connected via a switched 12V power source and the BNC to HDMI cable. There would be no DVR/NVR or network connection.
Please let me know where I have gone wrong with this approach.
