Getting the hang of it

I was hoping that I could get some help fine tuning my LPR (HFW5241E-Z12E) I've been going from good to bad trying the suggestions that I seen in other posts. One night it looks good and I can read a plate but the next night I can't even see a plate on a car. I did have problems maintaining a focus point but I got that worked out using the DahuaSunriseSunset app and I used the suggestion of refelective tape to focus the camera. I live on a Cul de Sac so I only get a few tries a night but I will drive my car up and down the road to check changes. Thanks in advance!

Defog = Off
Focus & Zoom = Manual
Day & Night + B/W

Being on a cul-de-sac, I would drop the FPS down or if you want to run at 25 then up the bitrate. I get plates at 8FPS and they move past my house.

Turn off Smart IR.

Drop sharpness way down. Like try 20. I think that is your biggest problem.

Match the 3D and 2D - try 35

Contrast usually is a little higher than brightness

what does 1/1000 Shutter look like?

You could play with the iris slider as well.....your close......just needs a little something.

Are you still aimed way down the street? you could be out running your IR lights a bit.

you could try manual shutter of .75 which is 1/2 way between 1/1000 ( 1.0) and 1/2000 ( .5) (1/1500)=.75

its more readable! still got a grainy image for some reason.

its definitely a plate number though...RZI397 clearly

Keep dropping sharpness. I run one of mine at like 4

Do you keep your sharpness at the same level during day time? Or do you run the night profile at all times? I recently got the IPC-B5442E-Z4E from Andy and I am trying to maximize readability of license plate captures.

It is pretty low for day and night. I figure since all I care about are clean plates, I want the plate to pop off the screen and taking all that sharpness dots out of it gives a nice clean plate.

THe sharpness during the day is 50, I don't have any issues reading plates during the day.

I found for my situation, since im 17 miles away fom the condo,,,the most "set it and forget it",,,setting was to run the Night profile at all times......
