Hello,

Guess it is a stupid question but I'll ask to be sure:

Is it possible to use a HDCVI camera (maybe through an coax to utp converter) as an IP camera without an NVR?

Goal would be to use my HDCVI Dome camera(s) at another site (where I don't have a NVR).

Thanks

Yes it's possible.

It's not a coaxial to utp adapter that's needed though, you need an encoder.

An HDCVI encoder specifically. There may be universal ones that work with HDCVI /TVI/ Regular analog. Not sure as I don't use them.

It would be cheaper to buy an NVR that can use those cameras than encoders.

The reason being is an HDCVI camera has the processing done in the DVR or an encoder, while an IP camera decodes the video in the camera itself.
