Hi All,

I have recently upgraded my trusty BI PC that has served me well for many years, an HP Elite 8300, i7 3770, 8GB DDR3 to a Dell Optiplex 3060, i7 8700, 16GB DDR4. For the longest time I ran 4 Amcrest WiFI cameras indoors (1 x 1080P & 3 x 720p) on their own network. Now I have added a 2K Dahua POE camera outside along with a Wyze Cam V3 for a non critical location. I have been super pleased with the Dahua and plan to add a couple more which is one of the reasons I upgraded my PC plus this is also my main PC that I use for an addon to my flight sim hobby.

If I want to take advantage of the h265 capability of the newer cameras am I right in assuming I need to upgrade to BI5? (I am still on BI4 and it continues to work wonderfully) If that is the case and I think it is once I have installed BI5 can I import a config file from BI4? I had the setup running on my new PC by doing this in literally minutes, I could not believe how simple the process was to install BI4 and get it running.

Finally is the upgrade process as follows:

  • Create new export config file
  • Uninstall BI4 (Does the registry need to be cleaned)
  • Install BI5
  • Import BI4 config file
Thanks in advance for any advice

Happy Friday !

Thanks,

It looks pretty straight forward
