I have noticed some of these new 4mp cameras are H.264+ and I noticed at the same time, there is now an updated version of my NVR (DS-7608) which is now the DS-7608NI-E2/8P/A 6MP 80Mbps H.264+.

I should be able to select on my NVR, H.264 for these cameras so the '+' shouldn't be a problem? Is there much of a difference anyhow between the two? I thought H.265 was the next ?

You need WD cameras for this to work. If you have little activity, like at night, the increase is large (double) but if not, then it's maybe 20%. This is based off my experience but I haven't had enough time to play with the 4MP cameras yet.

Put v3.3.4 on your NVR.

I have v3.3.4 Build 150616 already on my NVR.

Whats the bonus of having this firmware like you suggested?
