Guide to all the various DVRs

Sorry to ask a dumb question but is there some sort of guide which covers all the DVRs so that I can quickly compare their features? Am looking for an 8 ch, maybe a 16? with support for POE, currently am unsure as to what advantage one has over another.

EDIT: I am referring to just the Duhua range off course :)

Another question, again looking at the Dahua DVR units, the ones that don't have inbuilt POE ports only have a single network connection port, how could/would the cameras in that case be separated say from the house network without using an intelligent switch?

So I was thinking of having the DVR and cameras effectively on their own private network with the DVR then plugged into my home LAN, so I could then access the DVR but all the camera traffic is kept isolated. With the DVR only having a single network socket I can't see how that could be easily achieved?

You can use a regular PoE switch and connect the NVR and all the cameras to the switch then you will need to connect one of the port on the switch to a router.

To isolate the NVR and cameras on it own network, you will need to have advanced knowledge in network or do lot of reading on it. It's done by either using managed switch to set up more than one lan or use a router that have configurable ethernet ports allowing to you set separate lan network on each ethernet ports.

I've downloaded the user manual for the DVR and looking through it won't the 'SWITCH' option within the web GUI/config allow me to specify a different subnet for the just the cameras? I assume that if I then enable remote access I can then use an iOS/Android app to then access the DVR to get a live view or does this level of access require that each camera be connected to the internet?

I should also apologise to Andy, I'm cluttering up his Vendor section with questions, so Andy apologies, if it makes more sense for this thread to be elsewhere then could a kind Admin please move it?
