Gigabit switch needed? Or 100mo/s OK?

Hi everyone

I'm thinking of buying a poe switch for my home setup. As I plan to plug in this switch 3 (may be 4) Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z) and 1 fiscal c1, I'm quite worried about speed transfers. Nearly all poe switch I see are 100mo/s not Gigabit? Is a 100mo/s connexion enough to get the 5 cams streams at the same time?

Thanks for your help

I assume by "fiscal c1" you mean "foscam c1"?

If so, a 100 Mbps switch will be fine. You won't really be able to go above 10 Mbps per camera anyway.

Its usually not til your around 7-9 HD H264 cameras that you start worrying about performance of FastEthernet (100Mbit) uplinks to your NVR.. and then its not really a worry about saturation but having enough overhead left over that you can absorb anomalies and avoid bottlenecking..

You dont want a situation where an intermittent network activity on NVR interferes with recording or anything like that... ie, Transferring Video files off the NVR, Scrubbing Video at 10x Speed, etc.
