Getting Dahua cameras to work on Hikvision NVR

I've searched and there is one other thread on this forum but doesn't make much sense to me.

I have a DS 7616 Hikvision camera, bought it off aliexpress and for some reason I was under the inclination that these would work plug and play and they obviously don't.

What is the proper way to get these working?

I have an LTS(Hikvision) NVR and All my camera's are Dahua. The only way I consistently get them to work properly is by setting them up as ONVIF within the NVR. Minus one really old Q-SEE(Dahua) that I have to setup as rtsp.

When I tried this I got the video working via onvif, but no motion or ivs events worked. My solution was to go to all dahua equipment because the cheap 4mp dahua camera I was using had a much better image than the more expensive hikvision 4mp cameras, and the cameras are a much bigger investment than the nvr.
