Thats because its improperly installed with the IR bouncing off the wall.here it is on the side of the house, no moonlight, only IR, default settings no matter what i do i'm not impressed with any of these cameras.

Whats wrong with lighting up the grass?when i turn it away from the wall the IR lights up the grass. do they make any cameras that have independently adjustable lens and IR?
it makes the grass bright and the areas i want lot not brightWhats wrong with lighting up the grass?
No you will need an external IR or run in day mode and provide light.
You dont need 30fps 15 is way more than sufficient...smearing is not caused by low frame rates. Its about exposure.it makes the grass bright and the areas i want lot not brighti'm learning a lot tinkering with cameras, sometimes i want to go the color route which will require regular light, or go black&white and have a bunch of IR blasters everywhere. i'm trying to find a dahua cam that will turn on the LED when it detects motion and show me color. color is king to me, but i dont want to light my place up at night. i want 30 FPS min and no smearing images, etc. if someone runs thru my yard at night i want to see it, not just a blur.
no one said 1/3 or 1/4....that is useless.someone said 1/3 or 1/4 exposure, another said 1/60. can color work with IR? the ring cameras somehow work. i'm in the woods with literally a 25w driveway light. would i be wasting my time buying a 5442 color cam? i like the LED but dont want it on all the time, i guess it can't "see" without the led. the other version is IR and i basically have a varifocal version of that with the 2231T. i'm still looking for that magic camera or sauce. i'm kind of missing the point with these starlight cameras. if the image is smeared or ghosted in color, then you have to turn on the IR and then you get reflections. i must not be setting these up correctly.
willing to learn basics, read cliff notes, 1/3 1/4 was on another forum, it def shows a better image, it's a great still image but you can't see any motionno one said 1/3 or 1/4....that is useless.
The ring cameras dont work nearly as well as these cameras. You either have them mounted properly or they have weaker IR.
If you are not willing to learn the basics you are better off with ring.
The point of the starlights is that that are amazing in low light, much better than the small sensor cameras both in color mode or IR.
You dont get reflections if you properly mount the camera. This is installation 101.
as i indicate, useless.willing to learn basics, read cliff notes, 1/3 1/4 was on another forum, it def shows a better image, it's a great still image but you can't see any motion![]()
Care has to be taken so that there is nothing near the camera to reflect IR. This is particularly important with domes. If you think a ring with a crappy sensor and highly compressed image is better, then I suggest you stick with ring and get your vision checked as a precaution.so how is that camera not properly installed other than the way it's aimed? i'll go turn it away from the wall and upload another photo if you like.
i said my ring works with color and IR and looks pretty good. i've had it with ring, that's why i'm here.Care has to be taken so that there is nothing near the camera to reflect IR. This camera works with color as well and much better than ring - not even in the same league.i said my ring works with color and IR and looks pretty good. i've had it with ring, that's why i'm here.
i figured out the cell phone app, i can now view images on my cell phone which will help me aim the camera properly. i kept running into road blocks at the end of the day and it was frustrating. i'm going into RTFM mode now that i have onei want to learn everything about smart PSS, cbr vs vbr, exposure, etc. the cams keep going into the substream and freezing up. h264 is very glitchy, lots of ghosting, yadda yadda. so many settings ,i've read the cliffs, but sometimes you just have to go hands on and learn.
