First thing I would have done to prep the room would have been to enclose that fiberglass insulation in the ceiling...talk about a health hazard.

I used to use those Dell Mini 1012 netbooks - could only practically do one task at a time; even in Windows 7 starter edition, I would have split screen, PowerPoint on one side and Microsoft word on the other side. It worked out greater for some 3 years before going to waste

Every time I hear the word Gerbil, Richard Gere comes to mind...don't know how true it was, the story, maybe some actor was jealous of him and started the story who knows. Kinda like Rod Stewart stomach pumping story.
