to be fair, all the nest hacking reports I have seen can be attributed to using the same password as a hacked account. Nest itself was not hacked.
Not surprised..Wish there was some real info though....Article claims the "hacker" used their wifi but I bet it was a password issue
The lady and gent were interviewed on the NBC nightly news, it was obvious they had no idea about the cams other than "plug them in".
Lots of mis-information in the interview as well.

I want to say the article I read said they “just threw the camera away” because it freaked them out so much. It felt to me the interview was just propagating concerns that a little research (and smarter passwords) could have fixed.
If nothing else, hopefully another strong argument against open ports, cloud cameras, using the same password all over the place. Lots of lessons to learn here, not-so-much for most people here but still.
