With regards to security camera setups, my recommendation is do not only rely on the doorbell video cameras .. setup enough to get images of the perp and the vehicle they use.

props to her quick thinking.

plenty of follow home invasion stories in the news.

1. Pull locked vehicle into garage
2. Check your six
3. Turn off vehicle
5. Close garage door
6. Exit vehicle only when garage door is completely closed and perimeter clear

What do you do if like me you don’t have a linked garage and live in the UK?

Can you legally carry or possess a collapsible baton in the UK? A baton and a little Krav Maga can be pretty effective.
Looks like probably not on the baton, but a metal baseball bat isn't inherently a weapon . Maybe keep one in the back seat or check on the legality of a tactical umbrella.

I'd add a step, that might be the most important (which they did cover in the video, i watched it later).
0. Pay attention to people on the street or in parked cars and vehicles following you. If something seems off drive around the block or to the police station. Look in your mirrors as you pull in to your driveway / garage. Situational awareness is important, maintaining it without a state of hypervigilance is the challenge.

I had someone try to follow me walking home from campus late one night in college. I managed to lose them but it's pretty disconcerting.
