Hi Everyone. This is my first time getting cameras for the house. I'm looking into just getting 4 cameras for outdoor only. My son walks home from school and just want to give my wife a peace of mind that we can watch remotely when he gets home.

I've been reading on the forums and decided to go with Blue Iris. I already ordered a refurbished Elitedesk G2 i5-6600.

I would like to get 2 cameras for the front of the house and 2 for the back. One on each side. Here's my checklist:

x1 Turret style for front door.
Hikvision DS-2CD2342WD-I - https://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2342WD-I-Network-English-2-8mm/dp/B01DZSHE66/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478093539&sr=8-3&keywords=hikvision+4mp&th=1

x3 Bullet style - back door and corners of house
Hiksvision DS-2CD2042WD-I - https://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2042WD-I-Network-English-Security/dp/B01DIKF4XG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478093729&sr=8-2&keywords=hikvision+4mp

1,000FT Cat5e Cable - https://www.amazon.com/Ethernet-Waterproof-Underground-VIVO-CABLE-V003/dp/B0092TJ4K2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478093885&sr=8-1&keywords=cat5e+bulk+cable+underground

4TB WD Purple - https://www.amazon.com/Purple-Surveillance-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B00IMPO5OW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478094837&sr=8-2&keywords=wd+purple+surveillance+hard+drive

Crimper tool - https://www.amazon.com/UbiGear-Crimper-Connector-Network-Crimper315/dp/B01BLUQ7RM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478094571&sr=8-1&keywords=cat5e+crimper&th=1

Edit: forgot switch - https://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-8-Port-Ethernet-Desktop-TL-SF1008P/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478095478&sr=1-4&keywords=poe+switch

See attached photos of the house. I highlighted where I think it's best. The one for the front door would be the only one not getting wet. I figured the 2.8mm turret would work best there since it's a tight space. I couldn't find a better picture for the back but the rear door is approx. 5ft away from left highlighted area.

Am I missing anything? Is there any other suggestions or changes I should make?

Thank you

enilm,

Please be aware that the conductors in the Cat5e cable you are considering are Copper Clad Aluminum(CCA). For POE service, you should stick with cable that has pure copper conductors. It will cost more than the cable you have spec'd, but it will perform more reliably in POE service.
