firmware upgrade advice

my IPC-HDW5231R-Z firmware is:
V2.460.0000.15R - Build date 2017-09-07

In reading the threads, this is available
DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000005.0.R.190325.zip

I am interested in upgrading.

Question: is the upgrade done through the config tool ?
Are there any gotchas or anything specific do's and don'ts I need to watch for?
if this info is posted somewhere, I could use some help, kindly point me there.

You can upgrade through the camera's config page or through the config tool. Safest route would be to do a backup and then factory reset -> upgrade -> restore config -> reset all but user/network info. To be super safe make sure your camera's power is on a battery backup. Your camera's current firmware is so old I'd avoid doing any kind of final restore and just live with a factory reset after upgrading and redoing your settings to avoid any conflicts with newer features.

The cams I have, both are still on the test bench. Other than some basic settings I changed while playing around, for the most part they are at their default settings. My firmware is dated 2017. As suggested, I'll do a factory reset then do the upgrade. Moving forward, after they have been deployed on the wall, I will backup the existing info first then merge it in after the firmware upgrade has been completed.
