Just started playing with a ds-7832n-e2 brought on Ali Express for $147 delivered.
Build Date was 05/2015 firmware installed was as you would expect Chinese.

So time for a bit of playing, first I took 7600 firmware 3.10 and tftp it on, which gave me strange results. The NVR went from a 32ch to a 16ch the serial number changed and so did the model to a 7116n-si.

Next I tftp on 3.2.1 updated fine, this time the serial number was correct, but was still a 7116n-si again still just 16 channels.

Last play of the night I took the 3.3.2 firmware, again tftp it on, now we have all 32 Channels, Multi-Language Support the correct model number, tested with mtd hacked and ghost firmware camera's all working great.

Well worth the money, as it takes 2x4tb hard drives.

NOTE: (All Firmwares tested were changed with hiktools to lang 2)

Are you saying that it was delivered with Chinese menus?
Did it have AARR in the serial number, and an Australian power cord?
I'm tempted to try some of the firmware beyond 3.2.1 on my 7816N-E2 just to see what changes if any can be spotted.
A playback timeline with motion highlights would be pretty good.
 
yes,I tested with ds-7616n-e2 ([FONT=微软雅黑, MS Sans Serif, sans-serif]v3.3.3[/FONT]) have same problem, the model change 7116n-sn.
 
I have this fully working as correct model, with Using 7600, 3.3.2 Multi-Language firmware Just used Hiktools to change the flag.
So far I'm very impressed with this NVR, it's taken everything ive tftp on, some were not working correctly, but soon found the best one.
 
Hi! I bought 7616N-E2. Nvr came with firmware 3.3.0. From China.
I try downgrade firmware from 3.3.0 to 3.0.10. It does not work. Use tftp rescue tool.
How can I change the language? Previously, it turned to downgrade firmware.
I try upload firmware from web interface, try from tftp rescue, not working.
 
The language is changed with hiktools, using the 7600 ml firmware from the US or Europe Hik site's.
You can only use hik's tftp tool to downgrade and usb or tftp to upgrade.
THe main reason people downgrade is for fuctionality on NVR's it's just for compatability with both region camera that have not been hacked or have a custom firmware loaded.
I have found so far the best match are camera's with 5.16 and an NVR with 3.32 for functionality and features

I use the Europe site, but that should be ok.

What is the date of manufacture of your NVR and U-boot build date?
 
Hi! I change lang use hiktools and write firmware 3.1.0. All ok, but in vga out many symbols not correct. And web interface worked correct.
If i write firmware 3.3.2, write ok, but NWR beeping and go reboot after start.

What is the date of manufacture of your NVR and U-boot build date?
 
Guys some issues around 3.3.2 on having photos within the NVR email on alarm, and notification to the Survailence Center not working.

Any chance 3.3.3 fixes those issues?

Theres a forum thread on the 3.3.2 issues.
 
You get the u-boot info from the serial connection
Just update to the chinese 3.3.4 via the web interface this way it will stay English, just backup your config settings and don't use the restore defaults option on the nvr everything else is working as it should.
