Any differences between the two apart from the one also having IR light and the other not?

In my case it made difference , BUT i had to choose between 8MP version. Key difference was that G2 had sensor size 1/1.2 while new G2H is using cheaper 1/1.8 due to having an IR and to reduce price to be more afforable.

In my case price was not even an option of discussion i just wanted 8MP with 1/1.2 sensor size, and i almost got tricked by G2H. I have pretty strong street light at night always and i dont need IR. ColorVue works perfect on 1/1.2, and i doubt it would on 1/1.8.

Other than that differences are that your color mode will work when event is triggered and it will use IR if nothing happens.

Firmware based they are same nothing of a difference besides obvious.

The 7G2H are still good if you use them in lit areas or as a standard IR camera.1/1.8" is nice in comparison to standard 1/2.8" or similar cameras, but it's clearly intended for use with ir / led / hybrid.

1/1.2" Colorvu will be better for color imaging, if location is lit enough, or you can bear flashlight on your wall.

Not exactly.
Regarding the 2047G2 (4MP) series that the OP inquired about, both the original (DS-2CD2047G2-LU) and the hybrid (DS-2CD2047G2H-LIU) have a 1/1.8" sensor.
What you're probably thinking of is the 2087G2 (8MP) - where the original (DS-2CD2087G2-LU) had 1/1.2", but the hybrid (DS-2CD2087G2H-LIU) only has 1/1.8".
