Hi all,

I have just taken delivery of my first ip camera in a Hikvision DS-2CD2032f-I.

I can view the camera no problem on the LAN using the iVMS-4500 app but i cannot seem to view on the WAN.

I have opened what i believe are the necessary ports on mu HomeHub router but with no success.

I have been using the Hikvision portforwarding pdf that i have but i still cannot view the camera.

Any advice please?

You only need to port 8000. Is port 8000 open and that's what you put in the app? Also use this webpage to check of the port was open ...http://www.canyouseeme.org/

I am using a 64gb SD card to record. All is working well and i am having a play around with the settings.

I have just noticed the following:

Advanced Configuration>Video/Audio Resolution is set at 1920*1080p. Does this mean the camera is displaying/recording at 2 megapixels?

I would of thought the default would of been the 3 megapixel option of 2048*1536.

Yes it set to 1080p. That is the default...note that 3mp will not be any clearer, it will simply give you more vertical viewing area and a bit less horizontal viewing are.

I think i may be getting confused.

These settings are for liveview? So 1080p is fine.

However the recorded images are still 3Mp?

The setting is both live view and recording...if you dont need the extra vertical field of view leave it at 1080p.

Just seems strange that a camera branded as 3Mp is in default a 2Mp camera.

That is the most common resolution used. That is why it is default. They expect installers to change it if needed.

So just to sum up, most 3Mp cameras are used as 2Mp cameras!

I now see why the price difference between the two is amlost zero and in most cases the 2Mp cameras are slightly more expensive due to better night vision.

Lol

Is this the same with the new 4Mp cameras?
