Door sensor problems

I installed two of the nellysecurity door sensors on a nvr the other day for a friend. He is supposed to be getting emails when the door opens. Now he's saying he got a "1000" emails saying it's open. Worked fine for a day till today.

It's on a steel door but has magnetic tape holding it. Any ideas?
 
Is there by chance a large gap between the sensor and the strip giving the sensor the impression that it is open? Can you move the two parts of the sensor closer together at all?
 
Pretty close together. I wonder if it matters which way magnet is facing, didn't see any directional indicators. I do t normally install these
 
I don't imagine the direction of the magnet being the problem if it was working and now it isn't.

I would remove from the door and test in hand the function of open/closed. It might be the magnetic tape causing it to register as open constantly.
 
You mean the double sided sticky tape? I have another magnet I can fiddle with it with

I thought you said you were using magnetic tape to hold the sensor to the metal door, no?
