Does it matter where the OS is installed?

Hey everyone, combed through the hardware wiki a few times and have one question. Do you guys have windows on one of your storage drives or is there a benefit to having a M.2 boot drive? Not sure if it matters much or at all.

I am repurposing my old gaming rig as I am building a new one and going to use the parts for a blue iris setup.

Always install the OS on an SSD. Interface doesn't matter as much as SSD vs HDD. Benefit is faster bootup and overall faster experience in the OS vs a HDD. I would never install the OS on a HDD in this day in age.

Also you want the BlueIris database on the fastest storage available as well. So double check that the DB is on an SSD as well.

IMPORTANT: And the Blue Iris program (.exe) on the SSD as well !

Awesome - Thanks for the replies everyone!! I have a spare 256gb SSD or this 1tb M.2 and it sounds like I'll be using one of these. Appreciate the input!

I have the OS and BI on an m.2 drive. Only video on the HDDs.
