Not sure if anyone wants to add the link to this website to the Wiki, but it contains 7 really useful ways to disable Windows Updates from non permanent ie pausing to several permanent switch off changes:

I saved a copy as a pdf for myself and printed a copy as well. Personally I'm using Method 4 the Task Scheduler Method, but await to see how successful it is. Never hurts to have several alternatives at your disposal.
Might be worth asking if they will allow the entire article to be copied with a link, instead of juts linked, - could always ask.
