Difference Between Hikvision/LTS and AXIS, Vivotek, and ACTI

A few years ago when I first started putting cameras on my house, there was a noticeable difference in build and camera quality between the likes of Axis/ACTI and Hikvision that justified the price difference. Today, I can't really tell the difference in picture quality on your basic dome camera amongst these brands, yet a substantial price difference still exists. What justifies the price difference other than marketing and perhaps support?

Government contracts, its like a $5k hammer.. which I suppose is fine if your afraid your Chinese steel hammer is spying on you.. otherwise you could break 5k Chinese hammers and still be more cost effective than one US made hammer.

Employee compensations makes a difference in cost...read some of the glassdoor reviews for LTS and majority of them probably get paid less than a decent waitress in a semi-popular restaurant.
