Dell 7040 three drives?

I tried searching and saw some people run the drives. I have a ssd on board sand one mechanical 3.5 drive I would like to add another 3.5 mechanical. Some people say they remove the DVD drive but that's a slim drive. Anyone have a photo of one with two 3.5 drives? Or maybe a stl of a caddy that holds two?

They fucked it. Used to be where a Dell tower had 2- 3.5" bays stacked. now they give you a 2.5" sata bay, and a 3.5" sata bay on the 7040.
Your gonna have to get inventive.
I just researched this for another guy before he got banned for being a clown.
the HP Elitedesk g4-800 Tower has 2 - 3.5" bays.
as does the Hp g4-800 SFF
I wonder if a Dell precision Case would house your Motherboard.....
Now it's getting messy though.

Yeah, even in the 7040 tower that I have there's physical space for another 3.5 but no actual mounting location. You could put one in there but you'd have to hack something to keep it in place.

might be able to take out the 2.5" bays and try to figure out a way to mount another dell style 3.5" drive bay over there on the right. just spit ballin....Screenshot 2022-01-24 205047.png

Duct tape works wonders LOL. It isn't like we are moving these computers around.

I removed the DVD from my HP and could get one screw into the HDD and it holds it fine.

That caddy is for the primary drive. You couldn't fit another in there in another caddy. In fact, if you wanted to try to get two in, you might end up having to take the primary out of the caddy. It takes up probably ~1/3 more space than the drive alone.

That pic is of the tower isn't it? Think that's what mine looks like.

Make what I said above about the caddy taking more space more.
 
Assuming the cable connections are there, and for some real hackery, LENGTHENING them, then couldn't the drives be mounted remotely? Like on top of the machine, or beside it? Just thinking outside of the box here.
