I'm trying to set up Idle Motion for my PTZ camera, but i cannot seem to find the setting.

I have tried to follow the guide

When i try to go the PTZ Menu, all the guides show a OSD menu popup... no OSD pops up for me.
The rest the PTZ function work fine. The cameras that I am trying to configure is SD22204UE-GN (using Firmware v2.813)

Hardware
NVR: Dahua NVR4208-8P-4KS2. Firmware v4.000.0000001 Build Date 2019-08-30
Cameras: Dahua SD22204UE-GN (PTZ) x2 + Dahua HDBW4431R (Fixed) x 3

Hi, you do not need to enter the OSD-menu to set up idle motion.
Have you set it up like the picture says? Instead of a pattern (mentioned on picture), choose desired preset you want to return back to.

I run this on several PTZs and I do not have any problem with it.

Do double check that the preset you've entered really work.

I can't even get the OSD to show up, so i can't even configure idle to be turned on, so i can't even set it to pattern or preset.

When i go to PTZ and click PTZ menu, press the "ON" does not show ANYTHING on the screen, no OSD - nothing.

The other way they've shown idle motion (ie Under Setup > PTZ > Function), this doesn't exist as a menu option in my Dahua NVR.

I've setup a tripwire so that it zooms in the face as they are walking back up the stairs (Preset2), then a 2nd tripwire when they walk back (Preset1)
Though i've found the tripwire for the 1st works and it goes to Preset2, but it doesn't always go back to Preset1, hence I was hoping to use idle motion to make it go back to Preset1.

genelit, how have you set yours up?

Oops, I see I forgot to add the picture from the wiki.

I do like the picture says. You should use internet Explorer (not Edge).
Don't bother about OSD, you don't need to do that.

Post a screenshot of your settings tab.

Edit: I have an old 22404gu (model name?), can connect it and check the settings.
On the 4431 you will not have this setting as they're not PTZs.

All functions work except the PTZ menu.
(I can setup Presents, Tours, etc and they all work fine - PTZ menu does not work).

(Its the same if i use the NVR directly or go to the Webservice).
Pressing the ON button does NOTHING :(

Ahh, I see your problem. You are logged in to the NVR, not the camera itself.

To log in to the camera, click on the blue "e", on the relevant camera (see pic below).

Log in with same credentials you have on the NVR. From here the picture I posted, from the Wiki, above makes sense.

A tip for the future: Do ALL camera settings (IVS, presets etc etc) directly in the camera. Most often there are more options there than in the NVR.

Chrome works better than Edge. IE is still working best.
To launch IE you can hit <windows flag button + R>, a new Window "run" appears. Write: iexplore 192.168.1.25 (your NVR ip)

Thanks Genelit.

What you've said makes sense, i need to access the camera directly...
I'm nearly there!

Camera 1 - SD22204UE-GN (Channel 1 / 10.1.1.65 / Port1) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10080 - Cannot connect to the page
Camera 2 - SD22204UE-GN (Channel 2 / 10.1.1.66 / Port2) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10081 - Successfully Connected!
Camera 3 - HDBW4431R (Channel 3 / 10.1.1.67 / Port3) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10082 - Successfully Connected!
Camera 4 - HDBW4431R (Channel 4 / 10.1.1.68 / Port4) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10083 - Successfully Connected!
Camera 5 - HDBW4431R (Channel 5 / 10.1.1.69 / Port5) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10084 - Successfully Connected!

Camera 1 and 2 are the same model. Both have PTZ.
So i can now access the Idle Motion for Camera2.
But i still cannot connect directly to Camera1 :(

Odd,
Try to:
1) pull out the camera from the NVR and put it back 10s later. Let it boot and try to logon.

2) reboot NVR

3) try moving it to a different port on the NVR and try to connect.

4) reset the camera to factory settings

Hopefully you don't need tontryball these things out. This is the way I would have approached your problem.

@genelit
Thank you so much for your help. I got it to work.
Took a couple of goes.

Attempt #1 - Fail
Reboot NVR
Camera 1 - SD22204UE-GN (Channel 1 / 10.1.1.65 / Port1) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10080 - Cannot connect to the page

Attempt #2 - Fail
Unplug Camera1 from Port 1. Put to Port7
Reboot NVR
Camera 7 - SD22204UE-GN (Channel 1 / 10.1.1.65 / Port7) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10080 - Cannot connect to the page

Attempt #3 - Success
Unplug Camera1 from Port 1. Put to Port7
Physically press the Reset button on the camera
Reboot NVR
Camera 7 - SD22204UE-GN (Channel 1 / 10.1.1.65 / Port7) - Web Browser Link: 192.168.20.108:10086 - Connects!

So it would appear for some reason, it just did not like Port 10080 or this port is blocked no idea, wouldn't finding out why though.
