I have an NVR4216-16P-4KS2 in the field that I installed in 2017 with a 4tb WD Purple hdd. They called me today telling me that they had an issue in the office that they needed to view but couldn't playback anything. I went remote with the NVR and found that under the hdd manger, the hard drive was listed as "error" and I indeed couldn't play anything back.

By default, shouldn't an alarm have sounded when the hdd died on this thing? I know I should (and will now) have email alerts enabled but I would think the alarm would be enabled out of the box. Any ideas?
 
If I remember it right dahua brings the audible warning activated by default on their hcvr/xvr recorders, but not on their NVR recorders.
They are changing this on some recent firmwares, but if your decice is from 2017 chances are it didn't have it preactivated.
