I'm a newbie. Not about cameras but cameras with POE. I bought the above camera. It states it uses 12 volts at 1.5 amp on the specs. I looked into poe injectors and they seem to be 40 something volts. Then I see active vs passive which is maddening. I have several Ubiquity poe injectors rated at 24 and 12 volts for some old wireless bullet access points Can anyone tell me what I need to power this camera. I only plan on having 2 or 3 cameras like this in the end when I can afford it.

You can power the camera via external 12VDC power supply or with PoE. PoE uses higher voltage (around 48VDC) to lower the current because Cat5e or Cat6 cable is quite thin. To get same power with lower current you just step up the voltage. Active PoE means that PoE supply and the device communicate and negotiate the proper voltage, passive in other hand just pushes standard PoE voltage down the lines.
I would suggest you to get new PoE 802.3at switch. 802.3at is newer and more powerful PoE standard.

Don't use Ubiquiti poe injectors on anything but Ubiquiti devices. They run different voltages..
