Dahua CCTV on a different NVR - AI functionality?

Hi,

I have Dahua cameras (IPC-HDW5442T-ZE) on a Dahua NVR (NVR5216-16P-EI). To be honest, I don't really enjoy the app of Dahua that much and would prefer to use an NVR of my alarm system (AJAX). My question would be regarding the AI functionality - how does this work together? Will the cameras essentially be "stupid" and just feeding video or how does this work? I have zero experience with mixing different manufacturers so thanks for enlightening me...

Dahua AI works only with Dahua or Dahua OEM NVRs.. So if connecting to another NVR over ONVIF then all Ai will no longer be recorded at the NVR and only option is to use Micro SD on the camera for Ai features to be recorded.
 
It is always a crapshoot.

ONVIF means you can stream the video, but other features may or may not work.

AI is likely to be one that won't. It may pull over as an event, but no intelligence would be associated with it, it would just be a tick on the timeline.

Maybe someone will chime in with that particular brand.
