Crummy POE switch?

Hi all,

I have a Dahua SD49225T on a PoE injector - an iCREATin.

For some reason, periodically, my camera loses connection to Blue Iris. I have to unplug the PoE (I can't reach the camera easily) and plug it back in. The camera comes back after that.

Is this a bad camera? A bad PoE?

Start by getting a quality POE switch. I have not had much success with an injector. If it is the sub $10 icreatin passive POE injector, you get what you pay for. STOP buying crap.

I have two (2) of those and they appear to work well at this point in time. But I also have three (3) of these smaller BV-Tech switches which have fewer ports and cost less but provide the same PoE+ 802.3at power...

So I didn't totally understand this thread. Is this saying that the Dahua cameras all have this glitch??
Or do I just need a new PoE switch?

Apparently, some SD49225T-HN have this issue, and some don't. But to eliminate causes, start by getting a decent POE+ switch.

to clarify, some SD49225T-HN have this issue. not some dahuas in general as they are rock solid.

another consideration is the cable and crimp. A cheap CCA/copper clad aluminium cable or a bad crimp can cause this as well. Also ensure you are using the 568 standard to crimp. If you can test with a store bought cable on the bench that would be ideal.

To reinforce @fenderman 's comment, I had an issue with one of my cameras near the garage giving periodic loss of connection issues. Eventually I found out it was loosing connection about 1 time out of 5 that the garage door went up or down. I clipped off the connector, re-terminated it, and all was well. Final diagnosis was my somewhat amateurish crimping skills gave me a spotty connection that was disturbed by vibration.
