So I have an older 4208-8p NVR. I'm looking at a SD59225U-HNI IP Ptz. The 4208 does have POE+ so I'm confident it will power the ptz. However, will I at least have control to move the camera within the NVR? I'm assuming I won't be able to hit the menu for full settings without hitting the camera GUI but once set I can work the thing via the NVR right? Don't need to hook up 485 comm wire to the NVR to do so- all commands transfer via cat 6? Thanks!

Yes you will be able to control the PTZ from the NVR without 485. It has a PTZ box with direction arrows with presets, pan, pattern, etc.

i have PTZ controls on my NVR4216-16P-4KS2, as below, Running F/W V4.001.0000000.4, Build Date: 2020-07-07

I've only used the zoom in/out + autofocus PTZ function, as i've got mostly varifocal IPC-HFW2831T-ZS-S2, work's without any issues...

and also concur, cat6 definitely supports 802.3at (Poe+)
