Good morning!
I had read really good things about the 2mp starlight cameras, so i decided to order a IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE from Empire Tech-Andy through Amazon. I already have 8 various Dahua cameras connected through a 16 port POE switch to a 16 channel Dahua NVR . Like all my previous Dahua cameras, i first connect it to my network, open the ConfigTool to change the ip, gateway, and subnet settings, then use the search feature on the NVR to add the camera to my system.
It took a few tries for the new camera to show up on the NVR search, but it did finally connect. It then showed the camera working for approximately 6 seconds, then the picture froze up and the round status symbol in the search window went from green to red. It would then start working again for about 5 seconds, then stop for about a minute. I left it connected for about an hour. When i checked the recording for that camera on the NVR, it only shows a few seconds of recording time for every minute. I have tried deleting the camera from the system and adding it with a different ip, but it does not correct the problem. I have tried multiple network cables, and even connected it to a cable from one of my working cameras. The web view through Internet Explorer also only works intermittently.
I dont know if the camera is defective, or there is something in the configuration of this camera that i have overlooked that is causing this problem. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
